The Victorian state downhill series is often slated as the best state series in the country, the best tracks, large numbers of riders and all round good fun. So does it live up to the hype?
Of course it does.
Heading down late friday afternoon, a early start on Saturday revealed crystal blue skies. With a summer feeling in the air, it was time to head to the to top. Near zero visibility on the shuttle road made the uplift a little interesting for this non local but it wasn’t long before I was trackside. Mt Taylor is a lengthy track with a considerable drop. Starting fast riders, negotiate some perilous rock gardens, tight switchbacks, flowy corners, road crossings, long pedals, larger jumps and deathly cabbage patches.
