Wow! Apart from riding Thredbo, it’s not often you get to race a 6min DH track. For round 3 of the Tasmanian Gravity Series riders were definitely spoilt with authorities and organisers giving the green light to race the highly acclaimed North-South Track (well the lower section anyway). This trail eventually wound its way into the Glenorchy MTB Park, down the super loose corners of the XC track and finished with the big jumps on the lower section of the Nationals DH track. This would have to be one of the best DH race tracks available in Australia. Local rider Kaine Cannan continued his winning form taking out 1st in Elite Men with George Newham in 2nd and Simon Palmer 3rd. Whilst Christina Sergeant continued here winning streak in Elite women. Expect this track to appear on the race circuit for next season, back by popular demand! …View More
Downhill riders from all around Tasmania traveled to the states north west coast this weekend for round one of the Tasmanian State Gravity Series at Paloona. Everyone was keen for the newly developed state series layout welcoming new sponsors, a new all mountain category and a saturday practice that hasn’t bee seen in many years. The rider turn out was good with 69 riders over the two days with excellent weather conditions. The track was running loose and rutted by race time with a massive uphill pedal in the middle it would be tough. Racing was good, with Christina Sergeant taking the win in the women’s and newly signed Clint White racing team member Ben Hill taking the win in under 19′s in his first ever race in under 19′s. No stranger to winning a state series race, Kaine Cannan showed everyone his still got it with a time of 2:57, quite impressive after a massive crash the day before. It was a excellent weekend over all and its safe to say can’t wait for the next round. Big thanks to the event organisers, Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club, Moo Brew, Track X, and shop support from Ulverstone Bicycles, all the riders, families and friends who made it such a great weekend. …View More
After complications with a little project on Saturday (nothing serious), I only ended up going to one day of the fourth round of the NSW state series at Mt Stromlo. Race Day.
This is certainly not the first time I have been to Mt Stromlo and neither is it the first time the track at Stromlo has been seen (World Cups, Championships National and World, Nationals, State), this presented a challenge ripe for one days worth of photography fun. Even with the new section barely touched photographically, I was much more panicked. Would and could I get the shots, the right shots. Much used to a days worth of practice to bag those safety shots, there could be no screw ups.

After a sunny day of practice the weather turned forcing the organisers to call off the race. Sean Lee was on hand to capture all the action on both days and here is what he saw….
