The Votec VFS

Votec is a small company, located in Germany, with the sole aim of providing their customers with the highest end hand crafted bicycles. The Votec VFR is thier 200mm downhill offering, based on a similar frame design as thier freeride bike.  This is the only Votec that is in Australasia. So if you havent heard of Votec this isnt a suprise, what may be suprising is that alot of the riding world hasn’t heard of them either. However Crankbrothers did catch on, and have a Votec VFR as a display bike.

The bike has been built from the ground up, with a lightweight race bike in mind. The drivetrain is predominantly SRAM powered with XO Carbon cranks and an XO DH carbon rear derailler, this is actuated by an XX shifter, which I find convenient for DH as it has a shorter thumb lever so its not in the way, the only non sram item is the Shimano dura-ace cassette, which has been modified to a 7 speed.

The suspension is all Fox Shox, RC4 with a Ti spring, and up front Fox40 with a complete gold ti bolt kit. From here out, everything gets a bit carbony, so look away if that scares you. The post and seat are visibly carbon with a 3k weave, the Selle Italia saddle matches the FSA K-force post very nicely.

The Votec rolls on Enve AM rims laced to profile elite hubs, which provide 206 points of contact. Enve also holds the cockpit together, with their DH carbon bars. Finally new Shimano Saints provide the stopping power, through hope tech rotors.
